Celebration of Recovery and Well-being Programme
Published: 21/09/2017
Flintshire Social Services will be holding an event on 12 October to celebrate
five years of their Recovery and Well-being Programme.
The event takes place between 10am and 3pm at Connah’s Quay Civic Hall and
everyone is welcome to come along to find out more.
In 2012, Flintshire’s Mental Health Service funded this programme offering
training and learning opportunities to people with mental health and substance
misuse issues and their carers to help and support their well-being and
recovery. The training is provided by a number of partner organisations
including Mind, Unllais, ASNEW and KIM.
The programme has been very successful and has been able to fund a Recovery and
Wellbeing support worker since 2013.
The celebration event charts the success of the programme from helping 6
individuals in 2012 to, so far in 2017, 486 people – an incredible achievement
in a relatively short time.
Over the past 5 years, there have been over 280 courses advertised with over
1500 individual bookings. The Recovery and Wellbeing support worker currently
has a database of over 540 people who have at some time attended one or more of
the courses.
The wide variety of courses have included: the SAFE programme, various arts and
crafts, Mindfulness, Get Well Stay Well workshops, CV writing, Step Up Step Out
Volunteering course, Cake Decorating and Hanging Basket workshops.
So come along and find out more – you’ll be very welcome and you will have the
opportunity to take part in free taster sessions including Arts and crafts,
music, tai chi, cookery and woodland skills.
There will also be a chance to provide feedback during the day in order to
improve and develop the programme further, while enjoying the refreshments on
offer.
