Daffodil planting

Pupils from Ysgol Maes Y Felin joined Flintshire Countryside Rangers at
Greenfield Heritage Park recently to help plant daffodil bulbs.
Karen Rippin, Flintshire’s ranger based at Greenfield Valley, said:
“The 6 and 7 year old pupils helped plant just over 1,000 bulbs along the
pathways that lead into the country park and also checked out a few bugs and
worms along the way.”
The pupils were told about the lifecycle of plants and what they needed to
grow. They learnt that not all daffodil bulbs are yellow, but the bulbs they
were planting would bloom in the spring next year and their bright yellow
flowers would welcome visitors to the park.
Mrs. Martin, teacher at Ysgol Maes Y Felin, said:
“The children were delighted to help plant the bulbs and we plan to come back
in the spring to see the daffodils and have a picnic.”
