Traffic Regulation Orders - Statutory Consultation

Published: 21/07/2023

In preparation for the implementation of Welsh Government’s new 20mph legislation on 17 September 2023, Flintshire County Council, has over recent months, undertaken an assessment of local roads against current national guidance.

As a result of this assessment sections of a small number of roads have been identified that have the potential for existing speed limits to be increased above 30mph.  The locations of these proposals are:

• Buckley - Padeswood Road South, Bannel Lane, Drury Lane and Drury New Road

• Talacre – Station Road

A formal process of consultation on these proposed changes opened on Friday 21st July 2023, for a Statutory Consultation period of 3 weeks.

https://www.flintshire.gov.uk/en/Resident/Streetscene/Traffic-regulation-orders.aspx More information about the proposed changes and how to comment can be found on the Council’s Website.  Notices have been publicised in the local press and will be erected at the location of the proposals. An information pack will be available for public inspection at Buckley Connects Centres between 9am and 4.30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Holywell Connects Centre between 9am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

Using Welsh Government’s 20mph exception criteria, and working closely with local County Councillors, a further 15 roads across Flintshire have also been identified that have the potential to return to 30mph after the introduction of 20mph in September.  These roads can be viewed online at https://datamap.gov.wales/maps/roads-affected-by-changes-to-the-speed-limit-on-re/

The formal consultation process on these proposed exceptions will begin during early August.
