Council launches new strategy to improve services

Flintshire County Council is launching a new strategy that will use information and data to help improve services for residents.

The Information and Data Management Strategy will enable the council to fully realise the potential of its data and make a real difference to the lives of residents. It will build on the work carried out throughout the Covid-19 pandemic where data was used to join up our digital systems to support vulnerable customers during that challenging period.

Through its digital work, the council realised an opportunity to use data to deliver a range of benefits for customers, employees, and the council. By treating data as a key asset we can support improved decision making and effectively and innovatively deliver better and more seamless services.

For our customers this means continuing to develop services that are intuitive and easy to access in Welsh and English, increasing digital access to services, and ensuring transparency and accountability to increase customer confidence that information is secure.

It will also help services to be responsive to changing customer expectations, ensure they are high-quality and value for money, as well as working more effectively with partners to deliver a more joined-up approach.

The strategy is purposefully ambitious, but the council recognises that if information and data is managed well, it can lead to a range of benefits for customers, employees and council services.

Councillor Billy Mullin, cabinet member for Governance, said: “Good information and data management can provide invaluable insight and ultimately allow us to offer better services that are more responsive and tailored to the individual needs of customers and residents across Flintshire.

“All our data is collected, managed and used legally, ethically and securely. The new strategy sets out a roadmap which will enable data-based decision making to support the modernisation of the council.”
