Newly elected Leader of Flintshire County Council, Councillor Dave Hughes, has today revealed his new Cabinet.
The 10-strong team of councillors will each look after an area of the Council and have specific responsibilities.
Councillor Hughes said: “It is an honour to be elected Leader of Flintshire County Council and confirm the new, ambitious Cabinet. With the support of the Independent Group and the Eagles, together we will work to drive this Council forward during challenging times.
“We are committed to putting our residents at the heart of everything we do for Flintshire, and I want to see this Council speak with a strong, united voice. Like every Council in Wales, we are facing significant budget pressures, but I believe this Cabinet will give us the very best opportunity to succeed.”
Councillor Christine Jones will remain as deputy leader with responsibilities for Social Services and Wellbeing. She will serve alongside newly appointed deputy leader, Independent councillor Helen Brown who will be responsible for Housing and Communities.
Councillor Chris Bithell, cabinet member for Planning Public Health and Public Protection, and Councillor Paul Johnson, cabinet member for Finance and Social Value, will remain unchanged.
Two other councillors who have retained their positions are Councillor Mared Eastwood for Education, Welsh language and Culture, and Councillor Linda Thomas for Corporate Services.
Councillor Glyn Banks will take over the portfolio for Streetscene and Transportation, Eagles’ Councillor Chris Dolphin will be the new lead for Economy, Environment and Climate, and Independent councillor Richard Jones is set to take on a new portfolio called Transformation and Assets.
