Flintshire will again welcome the Friends Life Tour of Britain on Monday, 8
September as many of the worlds top cyclists race through the county on Day 2
of this prestigious sporting event.
Thousands lined the route through Flintshire last year and large crowds are
sure to be out in force again showing their support for the riders this year as
the Tour passes through Mold town centre and on to the stage finish at
Llandudno.
Cllr. Kevin Jones Cabinet Member with responsibility for Leisure said,
The Friends Life Tour of Britain is an exciting, high profile event highlights
of which will be seen on television across the world. I am delighted that this
and the extensive coverage in the local and national press and online will
bring Flintshire to the attention of a vast international audience.
This is a fantastic opportunity for local people to see the cream of
international cycling in action and I am sure crowds will be out in force to
enjoy the excitement and thrill of the race.
The riders are expected to reach Flintshire at 12.30hrs, travelling on A541
from Cefn Y Bedd to Llong then join B5444 Wrexham Street, High Street and Upper
High Street, Mold before heading out of Flintshire on A541 towards Denbigh.
Rolling road closures will be in operation along the route which may result in
delays of approximately 15-20 minutes.
B5444 High Street and Upper High Street, Mold will be closed between 10.00hrs
and 13.30hrs.
