The success of the latest programme helping local residents into employment has been celebrated.

Building on previous successful projects, Flintshire Communities for Work Plus held an award ceremony for the Parent Employment Programme which was run at Ysgol Gwynedd in Flint recently.

The course ran for seven weeks in partnership with Delyn Safety UK Ltd.  Fourteen parents attended and achieved over 9 accredited qualifications such as Customer Service, Fire Safety/Safe use of Fire Extinguisher, Health and Safety Awareness, Manual Handling, Risk Assessment Principles and Practice, Warehouse Safety, Ladder and Stepladder Safety, COSHH Awareness, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as well as a CV workshop run by Communities For Work Plus.

These qualifications are valuable and relevant training and will give parents at the school the chance to progress into future employment, supported by Communities for Work Plus.

Flintshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Councillor Derek Butler, said:

“This is a positive programme offering pre-employment help and advice to help people back into work. I and the team at Communities For Work Plus would like to wish them all the best as they take positive steps with further qualifications and employment opportunities following on from this course.  They all deserve great credit for their hard work.”

Zoe Cottam, Family Support Worker at the school, said:

“The Parent Employment Programme has been a huge success and has given our parents the opportunity to learn some vital skills for them to progress into employment.  Communities For Work Plus has been instrumental in helping lots of our parents with one to one support at the our weekly drop in over the last year to achieve qualifications, work placements and employment.  But most important given them confidence to better their lives. A big thanks to the CFW+ team.”
