Council Plan – mid-year report

Flintshire County Council Cabinet members will receive a mid-year update on the Council’s progress when they meet on Tuesday, 19 November.

The Council sets out its priorities every year in the Council Plan, working on overall targets to develop services and living standards across the county.

Tuesday’s monitoring report provides a mid-year assessment and shows whether the Council is on track to achieve its desired impacts.

Despite continuing financial constraints, some of the highlights achieved so far include:

  • Opening the new learning disability centre, Hwb Cyfle, on time and on budget.
  • Our new extra care scheme in Holywell, Plas Yr Yrwen, is on track to open in February 2020.
  • The extension of Marleyfield House in Buckley is on track and construction is due to start.
  • We are on target to ensure our housing stock achieves the Welsh Housing Quality Standard by 2020.
  • We are on target to deliver 79 new social units of accommodation this year.
  • In the process of forming a new social food enterprise with partners Clwyd Alyn and Can Cook.
  • 647 households supported through the Healthy Homes Healthy People programme.
  • 1298 children accessed the childcare offer.
  • We supported 21 social enterprises with business development, social enterprise network events and external business awards.
  • We have an average recycling rate of 81.5% across all Household Recycling Centres.
  • We’ve helped 1246 people aged 65 and over to live independently at home.
  • We have recruited 9 new foster families to help support children and young people who are at risk.
