Carers Week event at Daniel Owen Square
Published: 28/05/2015
NEWCIS (North East Wales Carers Information Service) is holding an awareness
raising event at the Daniel Owen Square on Wednesday 10 June, as part of
Carers Week 2015.
The event will be held between 10am to 4pm, with games, activities and music
taking place throughout the day.
There will be three main stalls:
A lovely seaside reminiscence pod where people will have the chance to buy an
ice cream and enjoy sand in their toes whilst relaxing, listening to the sea
and having the opportunity to be on their own postcard.
A vintage pub reminiscence pod for people to buy soft drinks, juices and
snacks while socialising and enjoying some vintage pub songs.
There will also be an information stand on the main street in Mold, promoting
NEWCIS and its services and also explaining Carers Week.
Cllr Christine Jones, Cabinet Member for Social Services, and Carers Champion
at Flintshire County Council, said:
“Flintshire County Council recognises the important contribution made by
hundreds of informal carers and family members throughout Flintshire to enable
people to remain living at home and to be a part of their local communities.
I would encourage everyone to show their support for Carers Week in Wales by
joining in with these fun activities organised by NEWCIS, as well as taking the
opportunity to learn more about the work that NEWCIS does here in Flintshire.
Flintshire County Council has a number of Reminiscence pods for people living
with dementia to enjoy; they are available to loan through the Flintshire
Library Service.
Those wishing to find out more about the scheme should contact NEWCIS or the
Flintshire Library Service directly on 01352 704400.
