Medieval ‘Magna Carta’ Day
Published: 27/05/2015
Flintshire Record Office in Hawarden is hosting a Medieval ‘Magna Carta’ Day on
Sunday 31 May between 11am and 4 pm.
Samhain Medieval Society will recreate life during the 14th century and
visitors will be able to play medieval games, try their hand at spinning wool
or writing calligraphy. There will be a puppet show, archery and a comedy
play, ‘The Magnificent Charter’.
Senior Archivist, Steven Davies said ‘Samhain Medieval Society put these events
on regularly and they are always great fun. The play will mark the 800th
anniversary of the Magna Carta but has been done in a very funny and
entertaining way and I would recommend this event to anyone who is looking for
a fun day out’
Cllr Chris Bithell, Cabinet Member for Education, said:
I am pleased that the Record Office is marking an extremely important date in
our democratic history in a way which will appeal to children. There are plenty
of exciting activities on offer, and demonstrations such as medieval medicine
and armour. This promises to be an event full of fun for all the family and Im
sure that it will be a great day out.
This event is free (with a £1 charge for archery).
