The programme for this year’s Flintshire Business Week (FBW) has been unveiled.
Flintshire County Councils flagship business event, FBW 2015, will take place
from 13 to 16 October, with the Flintshire Business Awards 2015 taking place on
23 October.
FBW, in association with AGS Security Systems and Westbridge Furniture, is one
of the most important events of its kind in the region, attracting around 2,000
businesses every year.
At a launch event held recently at Soughton Hall, near Mold, the programme of
events, which will take place over five days, was revealed.
FBW 2015 begins on Tuesday 13 October with a Regional Business Exhibition -
headline sponsor, Westbridge Furniture- which will take place at Coleg Cambria
until 4pm. It begins with an MDA innovation business breakfast at 8am, followed
by the official launch of FBW2015 at 9.45am. The exhibition will feature
numerous exhibitors, talks and workshops.
On Wednesday 13 October, the venue for the morning of events will be the
Springfield Hotel in Holywell, and the theme for the day will be Regional
Prospects for Growth. The morning will include presentations about the
national and local transport plan, the North Wales prison project and the
Northern Gateway Development.
At St David’s Hotel, Ewloe, on Thursday 15 October, the theme of the day will
be the national and regional economy. Topics of discussion will include UK
manufacturing trends, with a speech from Barclay’s Bank’s Head of
Manufacturing, Mike Rigby.
On Friday 16 October, back by popular demand, is AM and MP Question Time, at
Coleg Cambria, from 8.30 to 9.30am. There will also be a regional tourism
networking event at Northop Country House Hotel, starting at 11am, with an
opportunity for a networking lunch.
The week ends, as always, with the Flintshire Business Awards - headline
sponsor, AGS Security Systems - which is open to all businesses based in
Flintshire. This takes place on Friday 23 October at Soughton Hall, Northop.
Speaking at the launch event, FBW’s President, Lord Barry Jones, said:
“I am proud to be President of the Flintshire Business Week. Now in its ninth
year, it continues to set a successful pace of considerable achievement. Our
County cares about business and the business community is powering ahead
without a shred of complacency. State of the art companies are here in the
heart of a manufacturing centre of excellence. Flintshire punches above its
weight, and the great county of Flintshire is something to be proud of.”
Councillor Aaron Shotton, Leader of the Council, said:
“The Council is extremely proud of Flintshire Business Week, which we feel is
the best of its kind in North Wales. This year’s launch event was
inspirational, and it was great to see many new faces and new businesses keen
to get involved. The Council takes its role of supporting our business
community extremely seriously and I would encourage businesses of every size to
take part in Flintshire Business Week – to use these networking and trading
opportunities and to raise the profile of your business.”
Councillor Derek Butler, Cabinet Member for Economic Development said:
Flintshire Business Week is growing year on year. Flintshire is about
entrepreneurism and this county has a major impact in the national economic
field. Flintshire is a good place to do business and this Council works
tirelessly to put our businesses of all sizes on the map.
If our launch event is anything to go by, I think this year’s Flintshire
Business Week is going to be extremely exciting and motivational, and our best
yet.”
