Healthy eating at Ysgol Saltney Ferry
Published: 26/06/2015
Primary school pupils at Ysgol Saltney Ferry have been embracing healthy eating.
The school recently held a series of healthy eating events, culminating in a
healthy lunch competition, which was judged by Flintshire County Council’s
school meals service.
The children had been tasked with drawing and designing a healthy packed lunch.
The winning pupils (one from each year) recently enjoyed eating the healthy
lunch that they had each designed, and which was provided for them by the
school meals service, in the dining hall at Ysgol Saltney Ferry.
The winners were Ellie Colecliffe, aged 4; Jayden Reaney, aged 6; Angie Thomas,
aged 7; Ellie Kirby, aged 8; Hannah Butler, aged 9; Jazmine March, aged 9
and Ryan Evans, aged 11.
Deputy Leader, Councillor Bernie Attridge, said:
“Well done to all the school children at Ysgol Saltney Ferry for embracing
healthy eating and congratulations in particular to all the winners. Their
winning meals looked great and I hope that they enjoyed eating their winning
menus!”
Ysgol Saltney Ferry headteacher, Charlotte Luke, said:
It was the children themselves who initially said that they wanted to further
promote healthy eating awareness across the school. We have really appreciated
the support from Laura England working with each class and it has been lovely
to see the children so enthusiastic about eating fruit and vegetables!
