Making Garden City greener

Residents are being consulted on plans to plant trees and carry out other
environmental improvements in the Garden City area.
People can attend an event at the St Andrews Community Hub, Garden City on
Monday 13 July between 1pm– 7pm to hear more details about the proposals.
Flintshire County Council has secured funding of £200,000 from Welsh Government
through the Vibrant and Viable Places Regeneration Framework to carry out the
works.
There are plans to plant trees and shrubs in appropriate public locations, as
well as replacing poor quality fencing and installing benches and picnic
tables.
Tree and hedgerow planting will also be offered to private and council homes
where owners and tenants can commit to their future maintenance.
Wright Landscapes have been awarded the contract to deliver the scheme and
together with representatives from Flintshire County Council they will be at
the consultation event to provide information on the types of trees, shrubs
and plants that will be available.
Councillor Helen Brown, Cabinet member for Housing said: This is a wonderful
opportunity to enhance the environment in Garden City and I hope people will
attend the event and take advantage of what will be available to them as part
of this scheme
Councillor Derek Butler, Cabinet member for Economic Development said: Im
pleased we have been able to secure the funding for this scheme which will
benefit the local community and the local environment.

This is an exciting project for the Garden City area and we are looking
forward to working and consulting with local residents and the local school
to make it a greener place.
