Published: 14/08/2015
Flintshire County Council is to open the doors of its Record Office to allow
visitors a ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the Old Rectory Building in Hawarden.
The event will be held on Saturday 5 September between 10am - 2pm as part of a
national Open Doors Scheme.
The special event will include the opportunity to view an exhibition about
historic buildings in the village, featuring ‘then’ and ‘now’ photographs and
visitors can also join a History Trail around the village led by a
knowledgeable tour guide. Tours start at 10.30am and 12.30pm and last for 1
hour 15 minutes. Bookings are required.
Cllr Chris Bithell, Cabinet Member for Education, said: “The Record Office is
an important and immensely valued service, which provides a lot of help and
enjoyment to people researching their family history or the history of the
local area. This is a great opportunity for visitors to have a behind the
scenes look at this historic building. We look forward to seeing as many people
as possible at this free event.”
