The Travel (Wales) Act 2013 was passed by the Welsh Assembly on the 1 October
2013 . Its purpose is to enable more people to take active travel options for
short journeys, for example by walking or bicycle where it is suitable for
them to do so, rather than using motorised transport.
Councillor Bernie Attridge, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment,
said:
“The Active Travel Act is a world first for Wales and provides us with an
opportunity to make Wales an active travel nation. The Council has mapped out
its Active Travel Routes and now welcomes feedback to help shape our Existing
Route Map for submission to Welsh Ministers in the New Year.
Councillor David Smith, Denbighshire’s Cabinet Lead Member with responsibility
for Highways, said: “The Show is a great opportunity for us to talk through our
plans with residents and to gather their views. Staff involved in the Active
Travel initiative will be on hand and there is plenty of time for people to
have their say and share their ideas”.
