Denbighshire and Flintshire County Councils are celebrating winning the Best
non-agricultural stand at this year’s Denbighshire and Flintshire Show, held at
The Green, Denbigh yesterday (Thursday, 20 August).
‘Exploring Town and Country’ was the theme for this year’s joint presence, with
a focus on promoting town trails in both counties, heritage sites and an
exhibition from the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural
Beauty to celebrate its 30th birthday.
Outside activities included a cycle track, a croquet game promoting the
Countryside Code, model cast making relating to the extension of the Llangollen
Railway to Corwen and Nordic walking sessions.
Flintshire –based Triffordd Nurseries provided the extensive floral display
outside of the marquee.
Councillor Gwyneth Kensler, Chair of Denbighshire County Council, said:
“We were delighted to be awarded this honour for our presence this year.
Exploring our towns and country is very much something that both the Councils
and the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are promoting and the showground is
an ideal location to showcase what’s on offer in North East Wales.”
Councillor Ray Hughes, Chairman of Flintshire County Council said:
“Both councils have worked together for a number of years on arranging the
joint presence at the Show. We were delighted with the judges’ comments about
our marquee and activities and valued the opportunity to promote our counties,
but also to speak with residents about issues of interest to them.”
