Work Starts on New Footpath
Published: 09/10/2015
Work has started on a new footpath to improve safety near a school.
Flintshire County Council earmarked the works at Bryn Road, Bryn Y Baal, as a
top priority and secured £247,000 funding from the Welsh Government after a
campaign to improve safety near Argoed High School.
Pupil Emma Pryce submitted a petition to the Council campaigning for a footpath
to be installed on the busy road to make the area safer for students walking to
school.
The work, which includes a footpath and new zebra crossing, is being funded
through the Safer Routes in Communities Grant and will be completed by the end
of November.
Cllr Bernie Attridge, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for the Environment,
said:
“I’m delighted that the Council was able to secure funding for these
improvements. This route is used by school pupils and residents on a daily
basis and the new footpath and zebra crossing will help to improve safety for
everyone.”
