Councillor Kevin Jones, Flintshire County Councils Cabinet Member for Waste
management, Public Protection and Leisure has been appointed Chairman of the
Consortium of Local Authorities in Wales (CLAW).
The Consortium boasts membership from every local authority in Wales and its
primary purpose is to uphold best practice in the management of property and in
the stewardship of local authority estates and premises, as well as providing a
forum for Welsh councils to look at design, construction, and the management
of buildings.
Councillor Jones said: It is a great honour to be elected Chairman of this all
Wales consortium, which plays a crucial role promoting good design in the
public sector in Wales, as well providing effective opportunities for councils
to work together throughout the principality.
At the recent awards event I had great pleasure in presenting both Vale of
Glamorgan County Council and Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council with the
CLAW project of the year commendation awards. Each of these exceptional
projects formed part of Welsh Governments 21st Century Schools initiatives.
Councillor Jones also presented the Consortiums Project of the Year award to
Denbighshire County Council in recognition of their work on Ysgol Twm or Nant
in Denbigh. SiƓn Evans, Design, Construction and Maintenance Manager received
the award on behalf of the Council.
Councillor Jones added: I would like to congratulate all those who entered
projects for this years awards, each of which demonstrated significant
achievements in the promotion of first class environmental and value for money
projects.
