Dementia support event

Sarah Rochira the Older Peoples Commissioner for Wales will be the guest
speaker at an event which will showcase some of the innovative work taking
place in Flintshire care homes and local communities to support people living
with dementia.
The Sharing Best Practice Showcase Event at Connahs Quay Civic Centre on
Friday 27 November will be the first event of its kind in Flintshire.
The event will celebrate and share some of the recent work in care homes , and
highlight how support can transform the well being and quality of life of
individuals with dementia as well as those who care for them.

At the event, different service providers will showcase the work they have
done in care homes with photographs, video clips, stories and art work. There
will also be presentations by care homes and providers.
Councillor Christine Jones, Flintshire County Councils Cabinet member for
Social Services said: I am immensely proud of the work Flintshire is doing to
support people with dementia and their carers. This is our opportunity to
share this good work and I am delighted that the Older Peoples Commissioner
for Wales is able to join us at this important event.
Note to Editors
The event will take place between 10am and 1 pm at Connahs Quay Civic Centre
on Friday 27 November. There will be an opportunity for photographs at the
start of the event.
