New footpath complete
Published: 14/12/2015
Work on a new footpath to improve safety near Argoed High School has been
completed.
Flintshire County Council earmarked the works at Bryn Road, Bryn Y Baal, as a
top priority after securing £247,000 Safer Routes in Communities funding from
the Welsh Government following a campaign for a footpath to be installed on the
busy road to make the area safer for students walking to school.
Councillor Bernie Attridge, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for the
Environment, said:
“I’m delighted that the works have been completed and on time.
This route is used by school pupils and residents on a daily basis and the new
footpath and zebra crossing will improve safety for everyone.”
Note to editors
Councillor Attridge will be meeting local councillors and representatives of
Argoed High School to inspect the new footpath at 9.30am on Wednesday, 16
December. You are invited to send a photographer.
