Connahs Quay Swimming Pool

The future arrangements for Connahs Quay Swimming Pool will be considered by
Flintshire County Councils Cabinet when it meets on Tuesday 15 December.
A Community Asset Transfer Panel made up of Flintshire Local Voluntary Council
and Flintshire County Council has recommended that community asset transfer for
the facility should proceed and that Cambrian Aquatics, the not for profit
community organisation established by Connahs Quay Swimming Club and Nofio
Clwyd should run the Pool.
For the first year, it is recommended that the County Council will contribute
£65,000 to the running costs together with a one off capital funding
contribution of £100,000. This financial support will be dependent on work
being completed over the coming months by Cambrian Aquatics and Flintshire
Council that ensures the Pool can be transferred safely and in a way that works
for the foreseeable future
A key part of this will be engagement and discussion with staff to help
finalise the way the swimming pool will operate.
Councillor Kevin Jones, Cabinet Member for Leisure said:
We think the progress Cambrian Aquatics have made in a relatively short time
is substantial and gives us the confidence to make these recommendations to
Cabinet. We will be ensuring the work over the coming months provides the Pool
with the best chance of success for the future.
