Christmas closures

Flintshire County Council is closing County Hall and other buildings between Christmas and New Year to save money on the running costs of Council premises over the quiet festive period. Critical services such as emergency housing repairs, social services and Streetscene services will be unaffected and continue to be provided. County Hall, Mold – will close at 5pm on Thursday 24 December 2015 and re-open on Monday 4 January. Register Office, Llwynegrin Hall, Mold – will operate a reduced level of service, opening as required. The decision for the shutdown comes as the Council faces unprecedented cuts to its budget. Councillor Billy Mullin Cabinet Member for Corporate Management said: “Like many organisations, the Council has in the past operated with a reduced workforce over the festive season as many employees take annual leave to spend time with their families. “Regardless of the number of employees in our office buildings during this period, the costs for heating and lighting remain the same. In the current financial climate this is an inefficient use of resources and so the decision has been made to completely close County Hall and the campus buildings over the festive period.” Chief Executive Colin Everett added: The public can be assured that critical services will be maintained during this period. Essential and emergency services will not be affected.
