Published: 08/03/2021
Following the successful award of Welsh Government funding under the Local Transport Grant, works to implement highway improvements at A541 Wrexham Road / B5102 Llay Road junction and A541 Wrexham Road / A550 Hawarden Road / Cymau Lane will commence week beginning 15 March 2021.
The improvements will consist of upgraded traffic signals at the A541 Wrexham Road / A550 Hawarden Road / Cymau Lane Junction and a junction redesign (incorporating traffic signals) at the A541 Wrexham Road / B5102 Llay Road junction. The roads will also be resurfaced. The works are programmed to last 10 weeks, and every effort will be made to keep any disruption to a minimum. The works will require temporary road closures which will be managed effectively, with advanced notice of the closures and diversion routes being publicised.
Councillor Carolyn Thomas, Cabinet Member for Streetscene and Countryside, said;
“I am very pleased that these much needed and requested highway improvements will commence shortly thanks to Welsh Government grant funding and the hard work of FCC highway officers working on the scheme.
“There are some significant engineering works needing to be done and there will be some disruption for several weeks but the end results should greatly improve the issues experienced daily by road users and the local community.“
