Active Travel comes to local school
Published: 11/02/2016
As part of Flintshire County Councils Active Travel Consultation, officers
visited Ysgol Mynydd Isa with the Road Safety Education Trailer to talk with
pupils about their journey to school.
Officers wanted to know what barriers children faced which discouraged them
from walking to school. They also discussed the wider benefits of walking to
school. Pupils provided useful feedback for the consultation process which has
been relayed to Welsh Government as part of Flintshires consultation report.
Councillor Bernie Attridge, Deputy Leader and Lead Cabinet Member for
Environment, said:
The Active Travel Act is a world first and provides us with an opportunity to
make Wales an Active Travel nation. Flintshire County Council has submitted its
first Existing Route Maps and is now awaiting Welsh Government approval.
For the next consultation phase on the Integrated Network Maps, Flintshire
County Council will be devising a programme of visits to other schools within
the County. Any schools wishing to participate can contact the Active Travel
Team on active.travel@flintshire.gov.uk
