Further funding for Deeside regeneration

Published: 10/02/2016

Welsh Government has awarded Flintshire County Council a further £1,367,000 for a regeneration programme in Deeside. The money, from the Vibrant and Viable Places programme, will be used for further environmental improvements, improvements to the cycling network and energy efficiency measures to council-owned homes. The Vibrant and Viable Places programme, now reaching the end of its second year, is the Welsh Government flagship programme for regeneration and the Council received just over £6m for an ambitious programme of regeneration in Deeside over three years. The programme will enhance the core of Deeside and complement the major economic growth underway through the Enterprise Zone where 7,000 new jobs are forecast to be created. Cllr. Derek Butler, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, said This is a welcome announcement and only possible because of the good progress the Council is making in delivering the Vibrant and Viable Places programme in Deeside. Deeside is a major economic hub for North Wales and North West England and this programme is an important element in growing the prosperity of the region.
