The Chairman of Flintshire County Council has helped another Flintshire
resident celebrate a special birthday.
Caroline Bellis enjoyed her 100th birthday at Marleyfield Care Home, Buckley on
20 June where she was visited by Councillor Peter Curtis and Mrs Curtis.
Family and friends all attended a big party with a 40 piece choir to mark the
occasion.
Mrs Bellis came to live in Mold at a very young age. She had one sister and
one brother. She married Ted on Boxing Day in 1939 at the age of 23. She has
two daughters, Moira and Jean. Her husband Ted was in the RAF and when he was
away at war, she lived with her in-laws and she worked at the Ammunitions
Factory in Rhydymwyn. Her husband was awarded a BEM at the age of 64,
following 34 years with the Ambulance Service. He died at the age of 80.
Caroline later went to work at Ysgol Bryn Gwalia as a school dinner lady and
she worked there until she retired.
