Chairman’s Civic Service

Each year, Flintshire County Council holds a Civic Sunday service close to the
start of the new municipal year, which begins in May.
The Church is chosen by the new Chair of Council. The Chair of Council chooses
a member of the clergy to act as Chairs chaplain during their year of
office. This year, the Chaplain is Father Roberto Ciardo SDV, the parish priest
at St Winefride Roman Catholic Church in Holywell.
This year’s service was held at St Winefride Church on Sunday 10 July. It was
attended by local MPs and AMs, as well as members of the council and the local
community.
After the service, the Chair of Council and his consort provided refreshments
to their guests at the Stamford Gate Hotel.
Cllr Peter Curtis, the chair of Flintshire County Council and his consort, Mrs
Jenny Curtis, together with his chaplain, Father Roberto Ciardo and Luigi who
assisted at the Civic Service.
