Going Batty in Buckley Library
Published: 07/11/2016
A great time was had at Buckley Library recently when library staff put on a
special free day of events for families.
‘Going Batty in Buckley Library’ included a show by Mr Magico who kept everyone
entertained performing magic tricks and making balloon animals with the
assistance of some willing volunteers.
Many of the children dressed up and two fancy dress parades were organised
around the precinct much to the amusement of local shoppers! The winners of the
first prizes in the Fancy Dress competition were Rachel Heaton, pictured with
her brother Alex, and Liam Morris who dressed up as a Big Bad Wolf!
Flintshire County Council Cabinet Member for Public Protection and Leisure,
Councillor Kevin Jones, said:
“Families really appreciated this fun-filled day – children of all ages as well
as their parents and grandparents enjoyed the entertainment on offer. The idea
caught everyone’s imagination and library staff entered into the spirit of this
special event. Libraries provide all sorts of activities for children and their
families all through the year and this event was an opportunity to remind
everyone of this wonderful free service.”
There was also a chance to take part in a JIMMY BEAR gymnastic and movement
session aimed at pre-school children as well as hearing spooky stories, singing
songs, taking part in a treasure hunt and being creative with some “batty”
craft activities.
