The Role of Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs)
PCCs are elected by the public to hold the Chief Constable and the force to account, effectively making the police answerable to the communities they serve. They work in partnership across a range of agencies at local and national level to ensure there is a unified approach to preventing and reducing crime.
The Police Area Returning Officer
The ‘Police Area Returning Officer’ (PARO) is responsible for dealing with candidates and agents, the conduct of the poll and collating the total result across the North Wales Police area and declaring the result.
Ian Bancroft, the Chief Executive of Wrexham County Borough Council, has been appointed as the PARO for the North Wales Police area. You can find out further information at https://www.wrexham.gov.uk/service/current-elections-and-vacancies/police-and-crime-commissioner-election-may-2-2024
