Active travel describes walking and cycling for purposeful journeys to a destination or with public transport. Whilst walking and cycling are healthy activities that are encouraged, they deliver significant benefits for the health and well-being of Wales when they displace car journeys.
As part of the requirements of the Active Travel Act (Wales) 2013, Flintshire County Council is required to submit an updated Active Travel Network Map (ATNM) to show how we are developing the necessary network to enable people to choose to travel actively for local journeys.
We undertook a community consultation so people could suggest changes they would like to see included on the map, and we had 2647 contributions. The information about the community consultation can be viewed online.
