Community Transport

Community Transport is a safe, accessible, cost-effective and flexible form of transport. Community Transport is important for people who do not have access to a car or public transport. It also provides a lifeline in both rural and urban areas, catering for a variety of needs and situations.

Flintshire County Council offer the following services:

Fflecsi Service

Fflecsi is a new service provided by Transport for Wales and local bus operators.

To use the service you need to book in advance. You can book via an app (which also allows you to track your bus) on the website and by telephone at 0300 234 0300.

The service is available in the areas surrounding Holywell and Buckley.

Services to Medical Appointments

Flintshire Ring and Ride Service for NHS medical appointments From 2 June 2025

This is a door-to-door service for residents of Flintshire County Council who are unable to access Public Transport, or where there are no public transport services available where you live. Residents are requested to contact the following service providers in the first instance:

If transport is not available with these service providers, residents may then proceed with an enquiry for transport on the FCC Ring and Ride service.

The service will assist in travelling to NHS Appointments within Flintshire County Council only with the exception of Countess of Chester, Wrexham Maelor and Ysbyty Glan Clwyd as there is no A&E hospital within Flintshire.  Referrals to out of county hospitals (other than the three listed above) would not qualify within the service criteria and members should contact the above service providers.

  • GP appointments within Flintshire
  • Hospital appointments within Flintshire
  • NHS Dentist withing Flintshire
  • NHS Optician appointments within Flintshire
  • Breast Test Wales Screening within Flintshire
  • Covid Injections within Flintshire

The Ring and Ride service hours are 08:00 and 18:00 Monday to Saturday and does not operate on Bank Holidays.

You must give at least 24 hours' notice when booking a journey and bookings made after 16:00 will not be registered until the next working day. Proof of appointment may be requested at time of booking.

Fees

The service is open to members only, with an annual subscription fee of £20.

You can pay by telephone or by cheque made payable to Flintshire County Council.

Each journey is then charged at £2.50 for up to 5 miles and then 50p per mile after 5 miles.At initial registration and time of booking, members will also be required to answer the following questions to meet the criteria to use the service:

  • Where do you live?
  • Where are you travelling to?
  • What is the purpose of the journey?
  • Is this the first time you have had to make this journey?
  • Do you have a car or access to a car?
  • Are you able to use bus services?
  • Have you tried Welsh Border Community Transport or Estuary Travel? 
  • Is this a hospital for an appointment?
