Flintshire Community Panel Members
We need people like you!
We need Community Panel Members (volunteers) willing to represent their communities. Men and women aged 18 and over from any ethnic and social background.
We want people who have good communication skills and life experiences.
Who will Community Panel Members deal with?
Children and young people aged 10 – 17 who appear in the Youth Court, who plead guilty and have not been convicted before, will usually be dealt with by way of a Referral Order.
The length of the Referral Order is determined by the Court (3 – 12 months).
The young person is then referred to a Youth Offender Panel.
What is a Youth Offender Panel?
Each Youth Offender Panel consists of two Community Panel Members who are assisted by at least one professional from the Youth Justice Service.
Community Panel Members take the lead in:
- supporting young people take responsibility for their behaviour
- assist young people to change their behaviour
- assist young people put right the harm they have caused to others
- assist young people being reintegrated into their communities.
Will I be trained?
Yes. We do not expect people to have all the skills necessary to be a Community Panel Member.
You will receive initial training, which is demanding, enjoyable and interactive, and will help you prepare for a challenging, rewarding and worthwhile role.
Once you become a Community Panel Member you will continue to receive on-going training and individual supervision to support you in your work
